1. First, be confident of yourself without being arrogant. This includes knowing that you are a good addition to the company. Also, if you feel insecure, you may take every little comment as being critical or insulting, which may result in misunderstandings with your client, employer, or even online colleagues.
2. Concentrate on giving your best to your work. If you can be trusted to deliver quality work, employers and clients know that they can give you high enough pay as you will surely deliver the work that they need.
3. If you can meet deadlines ahead of schedule, it might be all the better. It shows clients that you are competent and serious about your job. Of course, it does not mean that you need to submit everything ahead of time, but do everything in your power to meet deadlines. For data entry jobs, especially, a lot of times the clients have strict deadlines because your work will still be channeled to the next person in line who needs to do something with the information you have encoded.
4. Pay attention to detail. This is crucial for data entry work, because the slightest misspelling or typo could mean a whole world of difference. It would help if you are already meticulous, but if not, you can still develop the skill. Train yourself to be quick in spotting errors, perhaps through puzzles or spot-the-difference games in the newspaper, or even learning Sudoku.
5. Be humble enough to admit mistakes. While it might be best in the long run to avoid making them, but just in case you do fail at some point, clients would appreciate an honest admittance of fault rather than a defensive stance that shows you never to be wrong, especially if it is obvious that you are in the wrong. As such, being quick to apologize, sincerely, is a key to maintaining a good relationship with your client or employer. Of course, do not expect him to do the same for you, or else you will only get frustrated.
These basic tips should give you a good head start on your online job career, and it will also make everyday much lighter and easier as you curb relationship problems in the bud!
